FareMeet Privacy Policy
Effective 26 September 2026
FareMeet is a ride negotiation service operated by the FareMeet app owner. This policy explains the information used by the website and its Android app.
Information we collect
- Driver accounts: email and a one-way password hash for FareMeet accounts, or a sign-in identifier and email supplied by ChatGPT for existing accounts; legal name, phone, residential address, NIN (only the last four digits and a one-way fingerprint are stored), licence number and expiry, vehicle details, plate, next of kin name, relationship, phone and address, and terms acceptance. Passport photo and fingerprint scan images are stored privately for registration, available only to the driver and FareMeet owner. Uploading an image does not independently verify a person. These registration details are private and are not shown with public reviews or offers.
- Trips: rider name, pickup and destination text, proposed fare, notes, driver offers, agreed fare, and trip status.
- Calling: the customer may optionally provide a phone number; a driver may choose to share their registered number on an offer. Those numbers are shown only to the matched party while the trip is active. In-app audio calls use your microphone with permission and exchange connection details between the two devices; FareMeet stores temporary call setup data but does not record audio.
- Trip messages: text and timestamps sent between the rider and accepted driver after a fare is agreed. The conversation is available only while the trip is active.
- Deposits and fees: FareMeet deposit request ID or Monnify payment reference, requested amount, payment confirmation status, wallet balance, and fee ledger. Monnify handles online checkout and receives the payment information you enter there. FareMeet does not collect card details or bank login credentials. Direct transfers take place in your banking app.
- Reviews: a customer’s rating, written feedback, and rider name, plus any public response by the driver.
- Optional location: after a fare is agreed, each participant may opt in to share the latest GPS position and device-reported accuracy with the other participant. We do not record a route history.
How information is used and shared
We use the information to operate driver registration, display rides and offers, confirm deposits, deduct the platform fee, and show the latest shared location for an agreed trip. Open trip details are visible to eligible funded drivers. The rider and accepted driver can view each other’s recent shared location and their trip conversation, and can use audio calling; other drivers cannot. Messages stop being available in the app when a trip is cancelled, but the records remain with the trip until deleted under the records policy. A trip link containing the rider’s private key permits access to that rider’s trip and actions, so keep it private.
Drivers may sign in with a FareMeet email and password; existing accounts can continue using ChatGPT. FareMeet does not yet verify ownership of a new driver email address. Maps open on OpenStreetMap only when you follow a map link; that service then receives the location coordinates in the link. Website hosting and database services process data to operate FareMeet. Customer reviews and driver responses are visible to people viewing that driver’s offers. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.
Location control and retention
GPS sharing starts only when you select the share control and allow browser location access. You may stop sharing at any time. Sharing updates while the trip page remains open. Positions older than two minutes are not shown to the other person. Only the latest position for each party is stored; stopping removes it. Old stored positions are cleared during later tracker activity, including positions more than 24 hours old.
Records and deletion
Trip, account, deposit, consent, and fee records remain while needed to operate the service and reconcile payments or disputes. A driver can request account deletion, and a rider can request deletion of trip information, through the deletion request page. A driver’s ability to make new offers is suspended when a deletion request is submitted. The owner reviews outstanding deposit credit and transaction records before completing deletion; records that must be retained for accounting or legal reasons may remain for those purposes. A request does not automatically erase those records.
Security and changes
Access to driver features requires sign-in, and location access is limited to the parties on an agreed trip. Please keep your rider link and sign-in secure. This policy may be updated when the service changes; the effective date above will change when it does.
